Emerson Dickman - is an attorney who, for over thirty years,
    has specialized in the representation of children with disabilities.  
    Among the cases he has handled are leading precedents
    protecting the due process rights of pupils in special education
    and the constitutional rights of adults with developmental
    disabilities.  Emerson has been a member of the Board of
    Directors of the International Dyslexia Association for 12 years
    and is currently the President.  He was a member of the
    Professional Advisory Board for the National Center for Learning
    Disabilities for 6 years and Chairman of the protection and
    advocacy agency for the State of New Jersey for 5 years.  
    Emerson was Project Leader of the scientific consensus
    meetings to develop a research definition of Dyslexia for the
    National Institute for Child Health and Human Development
    (NICHD) in association with the International Dyslexia Association
    in 1994 and again in 2002.  In December 2004 Emerson was
    Project Leader of an invitational forum attended by 33
    organizations on the issue of Building Capacity to Deliver Multi-
    Tiered Reading Intervention in Public Schools.

    Emerson has published articles and book chapters on dyslexia,
    the link between learning disabilities and behavior, avoiding
    conflict, inclusion, educational advocacy, adopted child status,
    guardianship, special needs planning, and other topics in the

    Bettyanne McGuire -  a Fordham Law School graduate, is a
    long time associate in the firm, whose contributions include
    special needs planning; guardianships; probate; and estate and
    trust administration.  She works closely with family members as
    an advocate to insure their special needs loved ones are
    protected and receiving government benefits to which they may
    be entitled.  

    Bettyanne serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Care
    Plus, Inc., a large not-for-profit provider of services for persons
    with mental health issues.  Her background includes several
    years as an estate and trust officer for Morgan Guaranty Trust
    Company, service as a volunteer county and municipal public
    defender, as well as six years as a school board trustee.  

    Bettyanne has personal experience regarding the effects of
    disabilities on one’s life, as she has close family members who
    suffer from schizophrenia, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Tourette’s
    Syndrome.  This enables her to relate to the challenges her
    clients and their families face and to provide representation

    Stacey Therese Cherry - is an attorney who specializes in
    representing the rights of children with disabilities. She is a
    certified Teacher of the Handicapped and Elementary School
    Teacher with experience teaching for Passaic County Special
    Education Services Commission in both general and special
    education. Stacey has represented children in New Jersey, New
    York and California through the special education process. In
    addition, she provides workshops to parents and school districts
    regarding special education issues.

    Stacey has her undergraduate degree from Hope College in
    Learning Disabilities and her JD from Pepperdine University

    Kim Ventresco - MSW, LCSW, is a graduate of New York
    University, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings her
    prior years of experience as an Assistant Pupil Personnel
    Director (DSS), Certified School Social Worker, child study team
    member, and clinician to her present position as a child advocate
    in the Law Offices of G. Emerson Dickman.  She has provided
    psycho-social diagnostic assessments and psychotherapeutic
    services to school aged children with disabilities.  Her expertise is
    in the area of school social work, helping school administrators,
    child study teams, teachers, and parents work together to meet
    the academic, emotional, social, and behavioral challenges of
    children with disabilities and to maximize their opportunities for
    success. She has implemented school based social skill
    programs and conducted various in-services for parents,
    teachers, and school administrators on topics relating to the
    impact of disability on social-emotional and school functioning.  
    Previously, she received her BA from Clark University where she
    majored in Education and Psychology, with concentrations in
    child development and psycho-educational testing. Contact Kim
